Bestia Custos Volume 1 Official Release! Plus Art Update

Volume one of Bestia Custos is now available for purchase at Blurb's online bookstore! Simply click the cover image below and you'll be on your way! So, what's so special about this version? Why not just read the past posts? Those are good questions, but to be blunt, all posts regarding Bestia Custos are first time drafts with little to no editing involved. This published version contains additional content, plot development, and is a professionally edited and composed final product. If you want the story of Bestia Custos as it is meant to be, then be sure to grab a copy! Your support will only help to improve the series and ensure that it continues until its completion!

On another note, I decided I would take some time to pay tribute to one of my favorite artists, Matt Frank. For those of you unaware, Matt Frank is well known in the kaiju community as one of the best kaiju (giant monster) artists around. After having a big break into working on the official IDW Godzilla comic series, specifically the Rulers of Earth run, Matt has gone on to develop pieces of official art for numerous kaiju related projects and has even developed work for the Godzilla store in Tokyo. For me, Matt represents the accomplishment of a dream that many thought would never be possible. The idea of a foreigner creating official content for Japanese owned franchises like Godzilla and Gamera seemed impossible. But through hard work and a genuine love for the genre, he has given hope to so many who aspire create official art for these franchises. After seeing a sketch done by Matt of Super Godzilla, I decided that it would be good way to show my appreciation for all the work he's done by doing a piece using his design. So here's to you, Matt. For rising to new heights, just like Super Godzilla, and giving hope to so many that with hard work, a kid who loves to just draw monsters can rise to become something great. You are the man, Matt. Never forget it.

Games Update: 100 Fiends is ready to go!

I always had a deep appreciation for the Final Fantasy series. But Final Fantasy VIII was, for me, something of an outlier to the rest of the franchise. However, getting older has changed my opinion on the game and I respect it far more than ever, especially its addictive mini game, Triple Triad. I had always wanted to own a physical copy of this enjoyable card game but found no such luck unless I wanted to spend an arm and a leg to get one. I decided that it would be good for me to develop my own version in order to both practice my own art and pay tribute to many of the creatures in the Final Fantasy pantheon.

As the project grew I decided to attempt to balance the game by creating nine elemental types and one non-elemental typing for ten groups and chose ten creatures for each. Each group has a card whose values add up to the following numbers: 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 22, 24, 26, and 28. This way, no one elemental group or card of the same overall value would be better than another. The key was to focus on succeeding with what you had. I certainly can't say it enough that is a free fan game based on Triple Triad and that I am in no way associated with Square-Enix, the owners of Final Fantasy and Triple Triad, and I certainly do own the designs that my art in 100 Fiends in based on. My art for this game is meant to pay tribute and celebrate my appreciation for the franchise and my love for Triple Triad. If you are interested in downloading the assets and building your own version of the game, please head on over to the games section and use the link provided. Happy gaming all, and here's to a productive new year!
